Early 2016 means trip planning for the explorers among us, with the intention to tick off various locations across the year, but what are the top countries, cities and towns to visit in 2016? Read on for travel inspiration for the year, with the top travel destinations for 2016…

1. Cuba

For the first time since 1962, the U.S travel sanctions have been lifted from Cuba, making it an exciting travel destination and an up and coming holiday location. The Caribbean island has old-fashioned charm, culture and well preserved Spanish architecture by the bucket load.

Look out for: Chanel is set to take its resort runway to Cuba in May 2016, making it a great location for fashion fans in late spring.

Try: Experience Cuba like a local by taking a curated tour that guides you through Cuban culture, including the people, art, history and more, it’s a great way to explore.

2. Croatia

With many of the scenes from Game of Thrones being filmed in Croatia, the small country has been sky rocketed onto our travel radar for 2016. With beautiful beaches, ancient towns and glorious rolling countryside, there’s a lot of adventure to be had in Croatia.

Look out for: The underground festivals of Croatia, including Dimensions, Outlook, Soundwave, Hideout and Unknown, there’s lots to choose from!

Try: A boat tour around the various islands. Hop off and explore, hop back on and head to another exciting destination.

3. Botswana

In 2016 Botswana celebrates 50 years of independence, making it a great destination this year. As one of Africa’s most thriving societies, Botswana offers a unique destination. With an unusual combination of desert and delta, it’s wild and expansive, making it the ideal location for the explorer.

Look out for: The stunning national parks. Seventeen percent of the country is dedicated to national parks, with unusual and impressive wildlife that’s not to be missed.
